Quarles Family Genealogy Forum

Hello all, we are dismantling the old Quarles house In Hickory Flat, Cherokee County, Georgia. Would love to know the history as the house has been standing approximately 200 years. We were told it had been built by Nathaniel Quarles on land given him for service in the American Revolution. We were also told it was built by Cherokee Indians before he acquired the land I have found a map of georgia dated 1880s and several books from 1841 to 1881 and several cards from later dates, also info on the schooling of several of the Quarles in the 1900s as well as maps and census like forms of the specific area of Hickory Flat in the early 1900s. Would like to share this info if pointed in the right direction - would also like more info on this family as we are trying to save the house rather than demolish it and would like to re-construct it on another site. Only Quarles have lived in it that we know of until Ralph Quarles (a principal in several high schools in Ga) married to Annette and fathered 2 sons Wayne and Daniel. Ralph died in 1984, but the other 3 are still alive. Sat empty since 1996.
thanks, Ed Leisure
