1808 Quarles Court Case in Jefferson County, TN

My research has primarily been related to William Conway Quarles in Jefferson Co., TN. Recently I found a court case from 1808 that has several interesting Quarles names.

The court allow the fees of John McCampbell Solicitor to be paid out of the County monies in the following cases viz-- the State vs. John Chiponi, Thomas Davis, Stephen Day, William McCulla and two other cases. One the state of Nicholas Qualls, Gabriel Qualles, and Rolin Qulls; the other the state vs. Lucy Howell, Beny Howell, Elizabeth Qualls, Gabriel Qualls and Rolin Qualls, all of which defendants have either discharged or Nolle Prosequi's entered by the court.

One reason for my interest in the 1808 case is a record of apprenticeship for William Quarles 4 yrs. old who on March 9, 1835 was bound to a Thomas Davis. William is listed as a child of Betsy Quarles. Since the above court case involves Qualls/Quarles and another case involving Thomas Davis, I wonder if there is a Davis and Quarles connection.

Harold
