Quarriers Village

Hi
I am not actually researching the Quarrier name but I do work for an organisation called Quarriers which is based in Quarriers Villag, Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire Scotland.

There is a massive history to the place, namely that William Quarrier (1828-1903 in Greenock area) started up a childrens home in the middle 1800's

A potted history of the setting up of the village can be found at http://www.quarriers.org.uk

Williams parents were William and Ann Bookless

The village itself has remined much the same since it was built and has its own church, post office, its school has since been turned into flats and its fire station is now a private residence.

The village no longer supports children although the organisation itself still does.

Hope this is of interest, any more info please give me a shout

Dave Siddle
