I am sorry to join this thread at such a late date, but I have only just read it!!
A lot of the Quarry(Quarrie) names that you are mentioning (i.e. Willam (Walter) Quarrie/ Agnes Scott and James Quarrie) also appear in my wifes family tree. It seems that two brothers, William and James moved to the Isle of Man and took over some farming land and prospered there.
I already have nearly 100 decendants of these two gentlemen, a lot of which appear on the Isle of Man website having been researched before. They appear in ttwo of the Isle of Man FHS quarterly magazines in 1984 that are freely browsable on that website.
