In my family I have a number of Quarry family members (James being the earliest) from Ireland (if anyone knows which county they could be from I would be grateful), however, my Great Grandmother was called Catherine McQuarrie.
I don't know why they changed their name but I do know that her father changed it before she was born (no legal proof so may just be known as). They lived in Liverpool when they first came from Ireland but crossed the water into Birkenhead later and the decendents are still there.
Anyone with any further info would be my best friend.
