Yes, Jess Willard Quate sounds familiar to me. I'm so happy to hear from you. I've been trying to find somebody in his family who is also interested in finding out more about this side of the Quate family. The information I have so far is that your grandfather, Jess Willard Quate, had 6 siblings: Henry Lee , Charles Terry , Vernol M. (female), Hida Opal (female), Delmar L., Arbena (female). I am in contact with a family member of Hida Opal Quate. These children's parents were Andrew Lee Quate and Joyce Effie Young. My grandmother was Mary "Mollie" Belle Quate who married Henry Linden Bridge (H.L.). My father was one of 12 children of Henry Linden Bridge. (includes 1 half-sister and 1 half-brother). I know that Andrew Lee Quate was born 20 Nov 1877 in Murfreesboro, TN and died 19 Dec 1941 but I don't know where he died or where he is buried. Andrew's wife, Joyce Effie Young, born 12 Jun 1883 in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, died 13 Jan 1971 in Commerce, Hunt County, TX. Andrew was son of David A. Quate, born 28 May 1847 in Guilford County, NC and died 29 Sep 1903 (place unknown) and Elizabeth "Leddie" A. Lloyd born 25 Dec 1851 in Guilford County, NC and died 05 Sep 1912 (Place unknown). My information shows David A Quate's parents were Alexander Quate, born abt 1801 in Guilford County, NC and Elizabeth Williams born about 1807 in Guilford County, NC. David had 5 siblings: William, Ann, Richard, Robert, and Harmon. I have Elizabeth (Leddie)parents as David Lloyd and Sally (unknown). I know that David and Elizabeth Quate's children were Louisa A., Alexander W., Andrew Lee, Mary "Mollie" Belle, Roseanna, Minnie Gertrude, and James D. I have a couple of extra people listed as siblings but I don't know if they actually existed. I got their names from the granddaughter of Minnie Gertrude (Quate) Williams. These people are: Alec, Louie, Robbie and Jabe Quate. If you have any info on this, I would love to know if they are additional siblings of my grandma Mollie.
This is a long "note" and you may have the same information I have but there may be other people who want the same information. I'm looking forward to researching our Quate family with you. Thank you for your message.
