The limited research that I've done on the Quatrevingt name indicates that Achtziger was the original name. Christophe Achtziger lived in the river parishes of Louisiana and was married to Catherine Hoffman. The French were in charge then and were the census takers. On one census, many names were changed from the German to the corresponding French. Achtziger became Quatrevingt; Zwigg became LaBranche, etc. Thanks for having this forum and I plan to check it often, so if anyone out there has any information that would be helpful, please post.
