Ben and Amy,

Joseph Fearon Quay's father was Thomas Burke Quay. Thomas was born Nov 16, 1834 in Salona, (now Clinton Co.), PA

Thomas was a surveyor as a young man, a trade which he learned from his father, I believe. I have a copy of Thomas' death certificate which shows his father's name as Joseph F. Quay, PA. Thomas served two terms in the Civil War and was a Captain when discharged.

There is a Clinton Co. Historal Society, Lock Haven, PA. They have a web site. In 1997 they sent me some information on a Joseph F. Quay who was from Lamar, PA. I believe this was Thomas' father. According to this historical record which I will be happy to mail to you, Joseph was a descendant of some of the earliest settlers in Central Pennsylvania. They were Scotch-Irish. Joseph served as State senator from 1843 to 1846.

Thomas Burke Quay married Matilda E. Horner, b. June 23, 1836 d. Feb 26, 1912 Kansas City, MO

They were married Nov. 21, 1862, Washington, DC. Thomas died April 16, 1909 and was buried at Lakewood Cemetery, Mpls., MN.

Thomas and Matilda also had a daughter, Laura Alice, b. April 30, 1865 who married John Montgomery May 26, 1886. They had one son who died in infancy. No other children.

Matilda's parents were Hugh Horner and Sarah E.

I show Hugh Horner b. April 9, 1788 d. July 15, 1861 and Sarah E. b. Dec 30, 1800 d. Oct. 19, 1871.

I also have quite a lot of information on the Willoughby side. I just purchase Family Tree Maker software and hope to scan in pictures and documents in my possession to share with you and others. Please send me your mailing address.
