After researching this Qua/Quay Family, originally from Washington Co., New York State:

James Qua was b. Nov. 1826 d. Nov. 17, 1887 m. April 4, 1856 M.E. Church of Lisbon, NY Mary Ann Roberts b. Sept. 12, 1838 in Germantown, PA, d. after 1926 in Michigan. I only have three children, Maria Qua b. 1857; Mary Qua b. 1859/60 (7/12 in 1860 census) and Charles R. Qua b. Nov. 2, 1874 Forester, Sanilac Co., MI. James Qua served in C.W. 1862-1865 Co. E., 142nd. NY.

James Qua was the son of Samuel Qua. b. 1783 Washington Co, NY, d. Dec. 13, 1857 at Lisbon, St. Lawrence Co., NY and m. Aug. 30, 1811 Polly (Mary) Chambers b. ca 1792 d. Aug. 16, 1871 d/o Jos. Chambers, b. Ireland. I have 14 children but am not positive on a couple.

Samuel Qua was the son of Robert Qua b. ca 1747, d. May 30, 1830 at 83 yrs., buried Woodard Farm Cem. and m. ca. 1776 (probably earlier) Margaret Armstrong b. ca. 1754 and d. Sept. 29, 1814 @ 60 yrs., same cemetery.

Robert Qua is supposed to be the son of John and Jane McGilry Qua who came 1774 from Ireland and settled in Hebron with 4 children but things just don't add up on this story.

Any info you could send on James' family would be appreciated.
