"Francis Quickfall and his wife and family of four sons and four daughters settled in east Greenwood in 1872. They had come all the way from Missouri in the U. S. where they among other families from Ontario had gone five years before. However, not satisfied with the holdings they had taken there, they heard through relatives in Ontario of the Red River Settlement and seven families decided to come north. With three covered wagons, seven horses, and 30 head of cattle, they made the entire journey from Missouri to Greenwood and it took from May to August. The Quickfall family acquired six homesteads. In 1960, R. A. Quickfall lived on the homestead of Frank Proudlove who had come from Missouri with the Quickfalls."
