Hello Isabella-The info I have on my Gt.gradfather is as follows-William John Quigg born 1855 Belfast-Father Henry-Mother unkown!
On the 1871 census he was living Glasgow St. George aged 18yrs.He was an apprentice blacksmith.
On the 1881 census he was on board the Antelope sailing out of West Hartlepool-he was a Fireman.
He married a Mary Hills-nee Wardropper in Sth. Shields in June 1882.Mary already had 3 children from her 1st.marriage.
William & Mary had one son James Alexander born in 1883 (who I am also looking for) my grandfather-
William was found drowned at the docks in Greenwich in 1890
having been a marine seaman on the S.S. John McIntyer aged about 37yrs.THats all I have to date so any help would be appreciated-Judith.nee Quigg.
