The Purple or Scarlet Bendlets (bands) signify the joiningof Three Tribes by marriage between the RoyaJ. Rulers.
The lion standing on one foot ready for battle, is called A Rampant Lion. It signifies the great physicaJ strength and victor-ious exploits of the family. The J"ion, then as now, was recognized
as "King of Beasts" , or King of the Forest .
The little animal at the top is a "Wild Boar" , also in Rampant style, probably the symbol of one of the Three inter-married Tribes. The Boar is the most fierce of all animals. Joining them together signifies these Tribes and theirdescendents were "Warriors of the First Rank" .
