I just received a book I ordered from the Borderlands Book Store (www.borderlandsbooks.com) entitled "Los Gonzalez de Nuevo Leon Tomo I" by Guillermo Garmendia.

In this book I found a Maria Manuela Quintanilla born July 13, 1847 in China, N.L. and who married Braulio Cantu in 1868. She is a sister to Delores Qunitanilla (grandmother of Gen. Bonifacio Salinas Leal).

Maria Manula Quintanilla's parents were Gabriel Quintanilla and Paula Leal. If this Manuela is your Manuelita we are distant counsins and you are a descendant of Diego Montemayor (founder of Monterrey); Capt. Alonso de Leon (explored and documented Texas); an indirect descendant of Gen. Alonso de Leon (son of Capt. Alonso de leon) who headed up the expendition to tract La Salle and the French settlement in Texas; as well a few more illustrious people.

Take care,

David J. Leal
