There is an article about the John Crownover Bible, belonging to Mrs. Willie M. Shirley (Mrs. John A. Shirley), of Sabinal, Uvalde Co., Tx. in the newspaper, Uvalde News Leader, Uvalde, Tx., Dec. 29, 1939.
It gives the dates for John Crownover, b. Oct. 7, 1774, son of a Revolutionary War Soldier;John's wife: Alasebeth (Elizabeth) Chesney, b. Saturday, June 21, 1778.
It talks about the first 3 sons born in the 1790's that were soldiers in the War of 1812 and were in the Battle of San Jacinto. The youngest daughter: Malissa Crownover, b. Saturday, May 29, 1819, md. Ben Phillips, hero of the Battle of San Jacinto.Another daughter; Mary (Polly) Crownover, b. 1805, md. John Rabb.
The article gives a history of how the bible got to Texas.
