my Zada (grandfather) JACOB RABINOWITZ was given the name RUBIN as a last name when he came to Canada from either Poland or Russia...I wish I was clearer on the subject but there is no one to tell me. My father Jack Carl Rubin changed his name with his brother Harry Rubin to ROBBINS.

There you have it... I was born Beverley Robbins. Is it common for the Rabinowitz name to be changed like that when coming to Canada years ago... or do you think my Zada just used an easier name on his own? I always wondered. I also wonder if the spelling is actually Rabinovich... there seems to be too many people over the yrs. not clear about the name thing.... oh well... just thought it interesting to post this....
