I am looking for information about the family of George Rabun, born August 31, 1835 near Atlanta. According to his children, his father was the plantation owner. (Spelled Rabon, Rabun, Rayburn, Rayborn at different times). George was a carpenter and was taught to read and write. His mother’s name was Emmaline. She lived in Texas, Georgia, and Mississippi. George’s siblings were Lucy, Minerva, Charles, Creed, Baker, Fannie, and Tabitha. George lived in Panola County, MS before 1864 at Peach Creek. He married Martha Ann Ferguson White Gates from Richmond, Virginia in Panola County. He joined the Union Army under the name George Washington Perry and so all of his children were Perrys. The family moved to Memphis after the war ended; then to Arkansas. Two of George and Martha’s children were born at Peach Creek. One of them is buried there. The other children were born in Memphis except John Henry who was born in Redemption, Arkansas. Minerva was last known to be in Texas. Any information about this particular Rabun family greatly appreciated. I have been looking now for over 20 years. The only one I found was Creed who got married in Memphis. George was the bondsman for him. Maggie Notify Administrator about this message?
