My Apology! Raburn Info from everyone!

Dear Jenee, or anyone else who has found exception with my actions or disclosures.
I just recieved an e.mail concerning the data on GenForum. I am so sorry that you
have been upset by it. After our most recent discussion, I thought that my intent was clear. I personally contacted everyone on my lists and even posted a notice that the information was not complete, totally acurate, and that this is a work in progress...being undertaken by a number of different people. I never intended for any of this to offend you or anyone else. I wouldn't do anything, intentionally, that I thought would rub you the wrong way. As to the content on my listing, I've made it very clear that this was not a finished work, that I have gathered my information from a variety of sources, some recorded / documented, some not, some through stories and family lore, etc. As for identifying everyone who has contributed information or seperating everything out and giving recognition to those persons who've contributed those individual parts, it would clearly take up monsterous amounts of room and I didn't realize that recognition for our contributions was what this was about. (And in all fairness, I am not documenting each tidbit of information that I get as to who contributed it or when they contributed it. At least not in my document (the one I am writing) containing the information. All of my source info and data, I have in paper form and is in my file cabinet. I never even thought about listing all of this stuff in my actual Genealogy Document. I may go back and add all of this back in now though.) Like I've maintained, throughout the entire length of our relationship, I am not so much concerned (myself) about finding and documenting every step of the way...right now...I am trying to gather enough information to reconstruct the big picture of our family's history. To have an outline in a manner of speaking, to give myself and our possible “SOURCES” some guidelines or structure to work within and hopefully be able to clarify what is fact from fiction. Granted, having all of the substantiating documentation and digging into all of the many thousands of details and having everything in black and white, (at every step of the way)...would be wonderful! Indeed it would be a facinatingly grand piece of work not only for those parties involved, but as a success story for all of the other people doing family research. However, this is not, nor never has been my goal in this process. Don't misunderstand me, I do want everything documented, but first, I want to put the family line together as best as I can as accurately as possible given the restrictions we all strive against. And as a method of breaking loose some of the wall (I have been up against) we are up against, I listed a small portion of what info I have, (or have obtained) as a way to inspire more people to contribute, or in another way of speaking, to draw out the facts from what data has been identified and also to enable others to identify a connection. I have never claimed to have any credentials as a licensed genealogist and have taken some pains in identifying myself as just another member of the family trying to find answers. I know that my ways and methods are not the same as yours and that you have spent considerable time in detailing your information along the way.(I can appreciate that!) I also am aware that I am stumbling through this process (little better than a novice) and that some proprieties are being overlooked (obviously!). For this I am sorry, too. Again, I am sorry to have offended you in any way, and will do what I can to remove any of this information from the site. My only intention was to draw out more information or detail. I never intended for it to appear as though I am some authority figure who has gleaned this information from thin air. As you well know, I have contributed quite a bit of information (to you and many others as well - and never thought anything else about it. I never concerned myself with whether or not I was given credit for it or not) concerning my direct line and have been very open with you about anything I can do here in Alabama to further this project along or aid you and others in their search. Never have I been involved in any scheme to take the credit for others work. If this is what you feel like I've done...then I'll do everything in my power to correct it. I am going to post this same notice on the sites I frequent as well. The last thing in my motive is to offend anyone with my actions. I am only trying to find my roots and have some information to hand down to my children. I am not planning on publishing any of this and have no grand dreams of writing any books. So concerning myself with identifying all of my sourced has never been the “RULE” but, I will try to make things right from here. Okay. I hope this does some in the way of explaining the issue...although, it will take some effort to overcome my mis-handling of your trust. Just know that it was never my intention to violate it in any way. I hope you will consider accepting my apology and I will begin work toward fixing this problem...on the net at least.
Your distant (and troublesome cousin) Robert
