A plea for unity amongst Race family researchers
As you all have noticed, the activity on this Race family board has dwindled down to nothing. There are the Mose Races, the Reis/Races, the Belfast Races, and at least two other "unaffiliated" Race families in the northeast, all of whom have many unanswered questions, which need to be solved, for the benefit of our future descendants. This is such a shame, when one considers the work ethics of other families who are working together in the persuit of their family histories. So many other families are working together to persue their history, while our Race line is at such a tragic standstill. It's my belief that its time to abandon our
individual attitudes as researchers and open ourselves up to collective research.
Race family research, on this site, appears to be on a colision course. Instead of cooperating with each other, we seem to be pretending that the other Race lines don't exist. But actually, as researchers, we owe it to ourselves and our descendants to be honest in our
approach. It seems we have two choices: Either we begin to work together, or we watch our Race board fade into eternity. Since I represent the Belfast Races, I will volunteer to be the first of our groups to offer my full services toward a mutual genealogical cooperation of all of our Race families. Considering the current state of inactivity on this Race board, this would be a significant improvement. We can ill afford to let our family histories fall along the wayside. We need to seriously consider the word 'TEAM." I am looking forward to hearing from the leaders of each of our individual Race groups, in the hope that we can join together to benefit our future generations.
Sincerely, Bill Race
