Andrew Race

It's been quite a while since I've posted on this list so I will try again. ANDREW RACE is one of my most difficult ancestors to get beyond. What I know is: He was born approx. 1795 in VA. He married Mary Haine(s) of PA. She had a sister Emily who married Archibald Elson. Andrew and Mary had a son William, b. 1821 and daughter, Angeline b. 1824 in English Hampshire Co., (West)VA., Archibald b. 1831 Coshocton or Washington Co., OH, Elizabeth b. 1834 Ohio,
Jane b. 1837 Illinois, Ellen b. 1841 Illinois, and Margaret and Rebecca both born unknown years and places. Rebecca and Jane could be the same person. They lived in Peoria County, IL before moving to Iowa in the 1850's Andrew last appears in a tax list for 1862 in Benton County, IA and Mary back in Illinois later. Their children married into the Blanchard, Green, Bagley and Slade Families to name a few.

I would not be surprised if Mary Haine came from Berks or Chester Counties in PA. There was a David Rees that lived in Chester County in the mid to late 1700's.

I thought one possibility could be that this Andrew Race could be of the Moses Race family. Some of Moses's descendants lived in Schuyler Co., IL in 1860 which is fairly close to Peoria Co. And in Columbiana Co., OH there were a John and a William Race. Columbiana being several counties away from Coshocton. Also a John Race appeared in Washington Co., OH in the 1820 census.

Does ANYONE have any ideas. We have been stuck on Andrew since we found him. No clues to siblings or parents. Please someone help!!!
