Richard: Thak you for the courtesy of your reply. My research has led me to believe The Theophilus Racicot I am tracing was born circe 1815, and was the son of Regis Racicot (1) and Louise Jerome Lapointe.
Their other children were Regis Racicit born circa 1810 and Mary Louisa Racicot born July 1808.
This family migrated to the French settlement area of southern Michigan and upper Ohio, shortly after the birth of Theophilus the youngestand before 1823 as Mary Louis married there in 4 Nov 1823.
Historically I really don't know what this area was known as or who controlled what way back then, nor am I sure when Michigan and Ohio drew their final boundry but I am sure the border between what is now the USA and what is now Canada was quite obscure. I do believe they were on the west side of the St. Clair River.
I have Charles Racicot and Marie Madeline Pilatier, the parents of Regis Racicot (1). These prople all came from the Boucherville, Chambly area of what is now the P.Q.

Best regards
