Gary, I've been running across your RADCLIFF posts on the various genealory forums and I think you're the one who's way ahead of me! You know a lot more about this surname than I do! I have hit a brick wall with my great-grandfather, William H. Radcliff b. 1838 in PA. According to U.S. census records, his father was born in Ireland. I've started looking for Irish Radcliffs b. circa 1800 - 1820s who emigrated to the U.S. I've found a William (age 26) who arrived in Philadelphia aboard the Montezuma in 1834 and am exploring the possibility that this may be my William's father (I already have 3 more William Radcliffs that descended from my great-grandfather; the pattern in my family is to name the eldest son "William"). Unfortunately, the ship's manifest only lists his country of origin as "Great Britain and Ireland", as it does for all passengers with few exceptions. By going back to the Cromwell land grants, I'm trying to pinpoint areas of Radcliff settlements so I can have some idea of where to start looking for records pertaining to f this William. I know it's a long shot, but at this point I don't know what else to do. Anyway, I will be sure to let you know if I am able to obtain a copy of the Prendergast book.
