My maternal Grandfather was Alex Zacharias, His mother (my G Grandmother) was Lydia Elizabeth Lorenz, Her Mother (my GGGrandmother) was Emilia Radtke her Father Was Fredrick Radtke born in Posen Germany in 1826. His brother Was Michael Heinrich Rathke (I don't know why he spelled his name differently) born March 28, 1827. Frederick and his brother and their families lived in Welcome and surrounding areas for a while as did several German immigrants. Welcome and Berlin and Salem and New Wehdem are all within a couple of miles from Brenham, Texas (home of Blue Bell Ice cream. My Grandpas cousin (Jacqueline McClinton)has done a lot of research on the Radtkes. I have been to several of the churches and cemeteries in the area where they lived when they first came to the US, probably through Galveston.
