South African Radue Family

The South African Radue/Radü family were passengers of the ship 'Cesar Godeffroy' that departed from Hamburg on 12 April 1858 under Captain Nicolaus Störtebecker and arrived in East London, Cape Province, South Africa on 8 July 1858.

Extract from the ship's log:
Radü, Christian, Maurer (34), Arnswalde (Pr.), mit Frau Charlotte (33) und Auguste (7), Wilhelm (5), Carl (3), Louise (1).

I have a comprehensive list of the South African Radue and related families (over 700 of them), but am now trying to trace their roots.(ie pre 1858)

I am the 2nd great-grandson of Christian Friedrich Radue who was born 06 October 1824 in Arnswalde Prussia Germany and died on 18 March 1894 in South Africa. He was married to Luise Charlotte Wentland (aka Charlotte Luise Wendtland) born 30 August 1825 in Arnswalde Prussia Germany and died in South Africa on 16 March 1909

Any help will be appreciated.

Keith Radue,
South Africa
