I don't think that I am related to anyone who has posted here so far. I have traced my ancestors back to James Raffan born in Auchterless, Aberdeen, Scotland on 16 June 1843. He married Ann Smith on 21 November 1865 in Banff, Scotland. She was born on 9 August 1847 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

They had seven children, James Beattie Raffan, William Williamson Raffan, John Smith Raffan, Thomas Alexander Raffan, Margaret Ann Raffan, Jane White Raffan and Alexander Stewart Raffan.

After Ann Smith died on 5 August 1883, he then married Elsie Watt and they had three children together, Elsie, James and Robert Raffan, all born in Aberdeen.

James Raffan was actually born James Rathven but the spelling on his marriage certificate and his children's certificates were spelt Raffan. He had a sister Helen Rathven who married a John Milne and they lived in Huntly, Scotland.

John Rathven was also believed to be the son of a John Rathven but I have no other details.

If anyone feels that they might be related to this tree then please feel free to contact me.
