Nick, I remember meeting you briefly in North Sydney some years ago. I am a chartered accountant there - the firm is Foster Raffan. My father, Cecil, was born in Aberdeen - one of 7 children of George Wood Raffan from Turriff about an hour north of Aberdeen. My grandfather, George, trained as a tailor and had a "gentlemen's outfitters" in Aberdeen which was eventually taken over by his oldest son, also George. His father, my great grandfather, was a crofter according to my grandfather's birth certificate. There certainly are lots of Georges in the Raffans from what I have seen trolling the internet.
I am getting to the age when genealogy is becoming interesting - I am soon to be 65. Give me another 5 years or so and I think I will get into it with some determination! Perhaps we will find that we are related way way back! Regards, George Raffan (mobile 0407 228 118)
