My line of Ragers goes back to Hezekiah and Mary Jane.I believe that Hezekiah was probably one of Martin and Elizabeths boys but can find no actual documentation.Martin was supposedly one of Michaels older boys - I have not seen the documentation on that. There are supposed to be baptism records at a church back east that connect Conrad, Jacob and Martin to Michael as 3 of his sons.I have not personally seen them but I have spoken to people that claim to have seen them. Once Michael started moving this direction all church records ceased - there doesn't seem to be anything on any of his other kids. The problem lies in figuring out which kids connect to Conrad, Martin and John - most/all of their kids were grown and out of the house before the 1850 census when every member of the household was listed individually. There is a file at the Ebensburg courthouse annex that lists Jacobs heirs - it's a very complete list of kids.A lot of the research out there is based upon a tale that has been floating around that claims that Michael had 27 kids.People have - in an effort to come up with 27 kids - attributed some boys as being Michaels sons that I know for sure actually belonged to Jacob.Take the information that people are giving you with a grain of salt.A lot of it is guessing - we all have to do it because in some cases you won't ever know for sure.If I'm ever able to sort out all the Georges, Johns and Joes in Indiana county - I'll let you know.To complicate matters - some of them moved back and forth between the 2 counties several times. There are also couples with exactly the same names as other couples - 2 Johns that both had wives named Elizabeth and that sort of thing.A number of the really old couples are Ragers married to other Ragers or Reagers. They almost all had to 1st cousins - since almost nobody lived there from 1800 to 1830 - I have absolutely no idea where any of the women fit in.I keep hoping for a couple of really old bibles with family trees in them to appear - but I'm not betting on it.Good luck to us all.Colleen
