Dear Cristal,
You can find the entire "Will Of William Ragan," proven 1787, posted on
I presume that slaves would be listed as his "movable Estate." The only name I could find was "a Negro boy named Sharper."
I don't know much about the slave situation. I've been interested in the slaves of another part of my line, in a different family, later in the 19th century, but haven't met much success there yet.
I've been trying to crack the Broughtons for years myself. There seems to be some dispute among the experts - Hub Broughton, Mary Lee Barnes, on genforum - about the parents of my Edward Broughton, husband of Elizabeth Ragan.
I hope this is of help and please let me know if you have any further questions.
Michael P. Cahill
