Dear Steve,
Thanks for the followup to my message to Cristal.
The information was interesting, especially about the Irish connection. That name Richard Harvin seems familiar to me so perhaps I've come across it before.
I am a descendant of Lucey & William Ragin. Their daughter Elizabeth wed an Edward Broughton. One of their children was Jemima (Gemima)Broughton, who wed a John Cannon in South Carolina. Would you know anything about those lines? I suspect the Cannons may have been of Irish descent and I know there was a Cannon family in Newberry at one time. John died in the Sumter District in 1807, leaving his wife and several children, but I know nothing definitive about John or his parents or background.
I know this is beside the point, but I've never had much success with South Carolina.
Anyway, thanks again,
Michael P. Cahill
