The name started out in Napratten, East Prussia, as RAHN, meaning "dark."Our coat of arms features a lily-of-the-valley.
After emigrating to Philadelphia in 1737, my ancestor, Johann Caspar Rahn, changed the spelling to RAWN.I have a photocopy of his signature on his naturalization papers.
