Dear Robin and others -
My ancestor, John Michael Raible (we spell it Raibley) was born in Wurtemburg, Germany in 1839 and immigrated to U.S. in 1846 at age 7 (with his parents??). They settled near Batavia Ohio, then he moved to Indiana about 1855.
He married Caroline Wilhelmus and they had 6 children (to my knowledge): sons Michael Wilhelmus Raibley, who went to California by covered wagon in 1895, (my father's grandfather), and Jacob, who stayed in Indiana and started a Raibley line there, and daughter Mary Isabelle who married Jerome Harmon.
John Michael and Caroline both died in Spencer Co, Indiana. Caroline's grave stone says "Caroline Raible"

This has been a "short" branch for my family, since we are so far from the roots of the family tree. I'd be thrilled to find more information, and to know if the Raibles and the Raibleys are the close relatives they would seem to be.
