Larry, I am posting here as I would like to stress that I am not researching the RAKE name. I am interested in the David/Sarah RAKE family only in relationship to Sarah Louise/Louisa's 2nd(?) husband--John F. TICE.
The information I have found is Louise RAKE married John F.Tice in Topeka, Shawnee co., KS. Oct. 1866. I have confirmed that this Louise Rake is the same Sarah L. (EVELIEGH spelling?) RAKE, wife of David Presley RAKE who died in the Battle of the Big Blue and buried in Topeka, KS.
After David's death (?), Sarah and her sons George and David, bought land from Richard CARUTHERS.
David and Sarah's daughter, Harriet Adaline RAKE married this Richard's son, David Ewing CARUTHERS.
Sarah is buried near Stull, Douglas co., KS. John Tice then married Rebecca Ann HALLMARK 1)CORDER
The above information on Harriet and the Caruthers family was given me by a descendent of Harriet. Donna says she has a picture of Harriet in her later years, but it is not to good.
I hope this info helps you and others who may be researching this family.
Frances
