I recieved the Raley information today and what a nice surprize. I have been reading. I will continue to read later tonight.
I will send pictures. I have been having problems with my copier and may have to take it back to Huntsville where I bought it.
I will write something on our family and send it to you.
I noticed that your Mother and my mother are about the same age. Mama was born in 1907.
Grandma's father D. Sherman Clark did move to Tn. He had another family there according to his sister. Grandma wrote to him and he must have recieved the letter because his sister told Aunt Gert to tell Grandma not to write to him anymore that he didn't want to have anything to do with them. I would have like to have had a talk with that fella.
He was still married to Grandma Chelsey (Chell).I do wish I could find his family. My sweet Grandma allowed that to bother her all of her life. She was the finest person.
When his wife died he was supposed to have moved back to Tx. where his family was from. His Father moved back to Tx. according to Mama after one of their children died. I do wish I had asked Grandma more about that family. I was so angry at what he had done to Grandma that I never asked her any questions.
I have to ask God to forgive me about this. It is hard to understand.
I have a picture of Samuel Clark and Joe Clark. Mama said his father was either Joe or Jeff Clark. I think Joe was his half brother.
Mama said her Grandpa Raley had a long row of tenant house out behind their house. She said they had lots of land.
I wonder what happened to his property. Do you know?
Mama couldn't remember Pearl's mother's name. She was married to a Wilhite who Mama said was very mean and he went to town one day and returned home dead in his wagon.
There were tow other names in their house in a census who mama said were probably tenants. One's name was Mindy. I don't recall the other. There are two Sallie's listed . I think Mama said one never married.
Mama spent a lot of time in her Grandma Rebecca's Roden Raley and Grandfather Raley's home.
They raise Pearl and her sister and Grandma, aunt Gert and Arthur ( Art). He died young from an infection in his leg. He may have been in his thirties. He was married and had children.
I had cancer almost ten years ago. I had a lung removed and was on life support and in a coma for twenty day. I had blood clots that went to my rt. lung through my heart and to my brain. The doctors said if I lived I would be a vegetable. I went into heart failure and my family was called in and told I was dying 3-4 times.
When I was in the coma I was with Jesus. We sat beside the clearest sea I have ever seen. It was wonderful.
Cancer went all over my body. I was given 3-6mo. to live in June of that year and seven mo. later I was given a clean bill of health. I will tell you the rest of the story next time.
God Bless, Frances
