I did so enjoy the Raley history and information you sent to me. I think if everyone had your talent to write that genealogy would be very interesting.
I have wanted to put my testimony in a small book because I think it would be very helpful especially, for those who have been given up to die like I was.
I don't have a talent in this area. I don't even remember
good grammer very well at my age.
Do you have anything on the Roden's? I have some things and pictures that are Grandma Rebecca's close family members. Have you been in touch with Rebecca whose e-mail is Becca Jane? She gave me some things on the Rodens.
Mama remembers Grandma Rebecca's family. She said they were very nice people.
My grandmother Powell was a fine woman. I don't recall her ever speaking bad of anyone. She just about raised me. My father died in an accident when I was three days old.
Did you go to school in Falkville?
When Grandpa was old he married his young secretary. The Powell children were very loyal to Grandma. They were greatly opposed to what Grandpa did. He paid a big price for that mistake.
God blessed grandma with a long life. She lived to be 99.
I talked to her on the phone the night before she died. She was in Hartselle hospital and due to come home the next morning. She was chroceting a babies blanket. She worked till she died. She always keep her mind active. She didn't dwell on hard times.
Grandma was talented in designing clothes. She could make beautiful clothes and just do her own patterns. She use to sew fancy little girls dresses for a children's shop.
She often spoke to me about Round Top school. She told me about running the sheep out and sweeping the school floor every morning.
What a hard time they had but they were happy and really didn't realize what a hard time they were having because everyone was the same who lived around them.
Grandma use to come and stay at my house often. She was really like a mother to me.
Thanks again, for the wonderful mini book. I think you should publish it. God Bless, Frances
