James Alexius Raley m. Ellen Frances Raley at St. Agnes, Uniontown, Union Co., KY, on Oct. 14, 1872. (Editor's Note: It is beleived that this Raley family came to Fancy Farm around 1890, as their son James H. was born here in Oct. 1890.) They had eight children (not necessiarly in order of birth.) James Horrace m. Gertrude Hobbs; Lillian m. George Russelburg; Catherine m. Parker Wooten; George Thomas m. Mary Catherine Elder; Annie m. Lawerence
Ryan; Gertrude m. Bernie Falk; James Walter m. Ruby Mary Castleman; and Ursula m. Frank Thomas. (Editors Note: Susan Frances Raley m. Samuel Philip Thompson at St. Agnes, Uniontown, on Oct 27, 1874. This Susan may have been the "Susanna Raley" that was a witness at the marriage of James A. Raley and Ellen Frances Raley.)

The Raley family was part of the Catholic Maryland to Kentucky emigration about 1780-90. The father, Henry Sylvester Raley and his three sons - John Basil, John and Henry. They were in KY at the Rolling Fork (Calvery, KY) about 1785. Then some went to Uniontown, others went to Hancock Co., and elsewhere. Henry Sylvester Raley, the father died in Perry Co., MO in 1829 at the age of 101. He was born in St. Mary's Co., MD.
