Hi Dennis, I'm not sure if I can be of any assistance. However, I am a Raley too and my Grandfater (Chistopher "Fred" Raley) came from Kentucky, Murphrysboro (I think...sorry, I'm not sure of the spelling). His father was Charles Pennington Raley and theirs is an interesting story. It goes something like this...my people were farmers and Great Grandad (Charles) heard about a new type of bean. He went to the city (not sure which one) to check into it. He never returned. Some of the family talked about someone seeing an article in a paper, where an unidentified male was found murdered. The theory has always been that Great Grandad was robbed and killed for the money he had taken with him, in hopes of purchasing this new type of bean. I'm sure I can dig up more information. My grandfather "Fred" is now deceased. However, he does have a younger brother (James) still living. There may also be one or two more siblings still alive. By the way, at some point after my Grandfather married my Grandmother (Helen Marie Jones, from Arkansas) they lived in Oklahoma. My father (Roger Fred Raley) was born there in 1934 and they moved to California when he was a year old. That is where I was born. Although I now live in Oregon. Let me know if any of this ties to your family and I'll see what else I can come up with for you. Kindest regards, Ruth (Raley) Martell Notify Administrator about this message?
