My daughter bought me a book from a yard sale this summer titled "Reminiscences of Oregon Pioneers" copyright 1937 from the Pioneer Ladies Club of Pendleton, Oregon. This book has since been reprinted by the Pendleton Historical Society. There is a long chapter "History of Umatilla County" by Coloney J. H. Raley. He states that his father's brother was Henry J. Raely who came to Oregon in the late fifties. It was through letters home that caused the Coloney's father to move west. In March 1862 joining the Kennedy's wagon train, the colonel's father, mother, himself, a brother, a sister, his father's mother, an uncle and an orphaned niece came to Oregon. J.H. Raley writes a very good history of the area and the people who settled there. I did not know if you already have this information from this source but it is well worth checking out.
