Hello - I am researching my Isherwood family and have found a Ramsbottom connection.
I am looking for parents of Eliza Isherwood bapt. St. Mary Magdalene, London 1802 a daughter of James and Elizabeth Isherwood. If I have got this correct, she married Richard Morris of the Household Cavalry at St.George, Hanover Square
1824. There is a marriage somewhere of an Isherwood & Ramsbottom.
I have requested a copy of a document from TNA re a change of name requiring the name Isherwood being a second name to Ramsbottom.
My Isherwoods I think originally came from Yorkshire. The names being James, Henry and Thomas Isherwood......
I have a marriage in Leeds Parish for a Thomas and Susannah Green 1799.
Richard Ramsbottom was a Licenced Victualler and was apprenticed to Thomas Isherwood in the Brewery in London.
They bought out the Clewer Brewery - and this grew and grew.
Richard Ramsbottom lived in Clewer, Berks, and is buried there 1813. I have a copy of his Will. I have yet to find the connection between my Eliza Isherwood and the above. She was well educated -
If this is of interest to anyone, I would be pleased to hear
