Thanks Shirley - I have contacted Neville, but he does not have anything (I think he wants to divulge ?)
It is just that I have some documentation when the name was changed in 1863 - by a Richard Ramsbottom of Berkshire.
I wondered if anyone knows the reason why it was changed.
I know there was a Ramsbottom/Isherwood marriage which might have been in Yorkshire, as both came from there. They all settled in London, and became Lic. Victuallers, Brewers, and made a lot of money. I am trying to find if my Isherwood-Morris has a connection, as my ancester Eliza was at least baptised in London a dau of James and Elizabeth Isherwood 1802, but not sure whether she was born there.
If anyone does know the reason why the above happened ?
I know it was done through the proper channels i.e.
The College of Arms, and the Home Office in London 1863....

Joan
