Hello Neville - I have documents relating to the name change of Ramsbottom/Isherwood. This was in 1863 claimed by a Richard Ramsbottom of London. This was done in the proper way.
I wonder why it was changed. Was it through a marriage in Yorkshire, where I think both of the families originated.
The Original was a John Ramsbottom born in Mitton, Yks.
about 1721, and he married Ann - of London. All are
buried in St. Botolph (Vault?) well most are I think.
They were in business from at least 1700's in Brewery, and Lic. Victuallers. And they appear to have made a lot of money.
