As far as I know I have not responded to your query-it is some time since I visited this site.
Your William was born too early to be John's son who would have to be born after 1870...could be into the 1880s... but it would be interesting to know if there was any family link. I have recently discovered from the back of the photo that William's middle name was Holland.
