Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

A research site

I don't know how often any of you have come across the name Randal spelled different ways. I certainly have. In fact, I'm one of the administrators of the Randolph MyFamily site, which is a research site and contains book excerpts, genealogies, census data, cemetery and bible records, etc., etc., etc. and we're now finding some some of the Randolphs may have been Randals or vice versa. It appears that often early census takers and others wrote the name as it sounded. In fact, we've been doing DNAs in an effort to find which early Randolph the present generation is connected with and many times there is no connection so there's always the possibility the early anscestor may have been a Randal.

If any of you are interested in joining the Randolph research site, please e-mail me. The site now includes the FitzRandolphs and we would like for it to include the Randals as well. There are probably 3,500 postings and over 300 members so there's plenty to read and who knows...you may just find one of your anscestors.

My e-mail address is halnbillie@aol.com
