My husband is descended from Joshua Rangeley (b. 1721 d. 1784 Hayfield Derbys.). Joshua married Ellen Miller in Ashton under Lyne St. Michael's Lancs. on 3 Aug 1751. Seven of his children were christened in Ashton and Joshua was a clothier in Dukinfield or Staleybridge at that time. (I haven't found any mention of him being a carpenter!)

We are keen to trace Joshua back but haven't yet found a christening. The nearest match so far is in the Ripponden PR (which includes Rastrick): -
JOSHUA son of Georg Rawnsley of Soyland chr. 22 May 1721.

We are sure Joshua Rangeley must have come over from W. Yorkshire as nearly all of the Rangeley family in Hayfield Derbys. and nearby Lancs. seem to be directly descended from him.

We have a very comprehensive family tree taken from Joshua Rangeley and Ellen Miller to the present. But we don't appear to have any Maloney's! We'd be interested to know where they fit.

But where is the Yorkshire connection?
Any ideas?
