Read with interest your note on the FORD families, I noticed that John Ford's father Absalom Ford was an overseer on the Crittenden farm. I read thisin the History of Woodford County:Major John Crittenden, b 1754 in VA, served in the Rev War from 1778-1780.He came to KY in 1782 and settled within 2 miles of Versailles, in 1782 he md Judith Harris, who was born and raised in VA.In 1809 Major Crittenden was killed by a falling tree on his farm, in 1810 Judith Crittenden, the widow, was living on the estate and Absalom Ford lived on thepremises and acted as overseer for many years. At the death of Judith Crittenden, it is of record that the admirers of John J. Crittenden in the county purchased the estate and made thatgentleman, Absalom Ford, a present of it.He must have been quite a man!Keep up the great work.Annie
