Thank you so much, Sarah, for answering my inquiry re Ransleys. The marriage you mention in Kent in 1837 between William Ransley and Betsey Barfoot may be that of the parents of my John Ransley. I don't have a copy of his birth record, but found his birth in the records of Old Church, St. Pancras in London. He was born in 1839 and other listings occur for a William Ransley in 1840, Alfred in 1843 and a Frances Elizabeth in 1843, all children of William and Betsey Ransley. The interesting thing is that John Ransley and his wife Alice Sarah Arden named their first daughter Alice Frances and the second daughter Elizabeth Sarah.

I don't have easy access to the 1841 census and would appreciate any help there. Can you tell me where you found the marriage of William and Betsey? I have looked at LDS Family Search without finding it.

Yours is the first glimmer of hope I have had on going back further. If there is anyone else or place you can point me I will be most appreciative.

Sarah J. Della Corte
