Dear Alexandre,

My grandfather was also Leon (or Leo) Ratner. However he came from Kremenchug in the Ukraine. He was born in 1861 and died in New York City in 1921. He had taken the name Ratner just a few years before he came to the United States in about 1885. His original surname was Varencove.

So it would seem unlikely that we are related.
