Nancy and William Ravenscroft are my relatives as well. Here is what I have discovered.
William Ravenscroft b. 1797 in [unknown]. d March 11,1851 inAllegany Co, MD. He married Nancy Dawson Ravenscroft. Nancy's first marriage was to Edward Ravenscroft on Dec 18,1813. Edward died on JAn9, 1815. Nancy Dawson Ravenscroft then married William Ravenscroft on May 6, 1820 in Allegany Co. MD.
I have as children of the marriage William=Nancy:
1. Robert Bef. 1825
2.William P. Bef. 1825
3.Ingaby JAn 22, 1825
4.MAry Ellen 1832
5.John H. 1837
William and Nancy Ravenscroft are listed in the 1850 census for Allegany Co MD as William (53) Nancy (50), Mary (18) and John (13).
Father William died in 1851.
Nancy is listed in the 1860 census for Hampshire Co VA, living with her widowed daughter Mary Tippets and MAry's son John.
Ancestors of William Ravenscroft are:
William Ravenscroft b. 1760 Hampshire Co VA [wife unknown]
He had 7 children, William (b. 1797) being the youngest.
Father of William (b 1760) was John M Ravenscroft b. 1725 Hampshire Co. VA. Wife Elizabeth ?? b. 1733 Hampshire Co. VA. Children were Samuel (b. 1751), John M.(b. 1753) and William (b. 1760)
AS to Nancy Dawson Ravenscroft:
dau. of William Dawson (b. 1764 Frederick Co. Md d.1822 Allegany Co. MD) and Hannah ??, Will for William posted 9/18/1824 in Aleegany Co. MD states daughter Nancy married to William Ravenscroft.
William Dawson was son of William Dawson (b. 1738 Prince George, MD d.1802 Allegany Co. MD) and Elizabeth Melott (b.c. 1745 Prince George, MD). The Melott line is a long one going back to 1600 and can be found on the web. Same for the Dawson line.
