Hello Alan,

Thanks for your interest my James R. According to the census
returns he was b. Alton, Hanmpshire abt. 1800 and he d. in 1854 at Greaves Street, Oldham, Lancashire he m. a Mary Scott who was b. Kendal, Westmorland abt. 1816 and d. 1871 in Oldham, Lancashire. I am assuming from the b. of the first child George Spinks Rayment on 1st Nov.1835 that they m. around this time. In the family bible it has an entry: "James and Mary Rayment(3rd Wife)" - no date for
m. and no mention of previous two wives.
I have now ground to a halt as I have been unable to find the b. or m. of my James R.
As he was m. twice before there could well be children from those marriages !
If you e.mail me at: pmw41@btinternet.com I can let you have
what info. I have.
