Seeking information on my great-grandfather JOHN READY and his descendants. JOHN READY was born in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland around 1811 or 1816. His parents were PATRICK & MARY (?) READY. JOHN immigrated to America arriving in the Port of New York on 22 June 1842. He lived in Brighton, MA until his death 11 October 1883 at his home on Bennett Street. He married MARY ANN (CORBLEY) and they raised eight children: Ellen (25 March 1853), John (18 November 1854), Joseph Mary (12 November 1856), William (15 August 1863), Patrick (27 January 1861), Julia (15 August 1863), Catherine (22 July 1866), Mary (12 June 1867).
They first attended St. Mary of the Assumption in Brooklyne, and were one of the first families of St. Columbkille in Brighton.
JOHN (1st son) married Maria A. (Hickey). and had two children: Miriam married Paul D. EVERETT; and Guliehmons married Alice FITZPATRICK at St. Joseph's in Medford.
PATRICK married Anna M. (KEENAN) who was the daughter of Daniel KEENAN and Winifreda CURLEY. They had four children: Leo Francis, Joseph Louis (my father), Dorothy who married Edmund W. O'CALLAGHAN, and Mildred.
Maybe some of the many READYS of Massachutts will recognize some of my relatives and contact me.
