Maurice, Your family most likely came from the County Kerry area . I am no expert by far, but my research indicates that Ready, Reidy, Raidy all are likely different spellings for the same family from that area. I was sent some research documents from someone working for me in Killarney that gave the historical spellings for Reidy. This document shows the name came from O'Raida......see the similarity to your spelling. Everyone tells me that Ready(my name) is just a changed spelling of Reidy so..... in fact, the birth records I found for what I think is my family show the parents as Reidy in their marriagne records but Ready in the birth records of their children. Check around the Kerry area. George Ready.
