Hi Paula,
Looks like we may have a common ancestor. Ambrose Ready was born in Ayle, Ireland in about 1825. He emigrate with two brothers and a sister in the late 1840s, landing in Quebec. Family tradition says Ambrose married a cousin and left the group at Quebec City and settling in Lowell. His three siblings carried on to Middlesex County in Ontario. I am descended from Charles, the eldest.

I found references to a Sadie in an old handwritten cookbook and something about Oil City Pennsylvania...probably at the turn of the 20th Century. Census records on line show Ambrose Ready and his son Ambrose as a junk dealer in Lowell.

This is really all I know about Ambrose and I sure hope that you will be able to fill in the blanks. He has always been a mystery man who has made us all curious.

I have much more information about all his siblings and parents and some few details about their home in Ireland. I'd be glad to share.

If you think that there is a possibility of a connect please let me know. I'd love to hear from you

Leslie Childs, Amherst Nova Scotia Canada.
